A Prayer for PKs

There’s plenty to pray for, but these are just a few points to help guide you during your prayer times concerning PKs.

1. That they would know and have a relationship with Jesus.

How many people have you encountered that grew up in church, but yet they are so far from God, in some cases they don’t know Him or don’t even like Him or at least who he has been projected to be in their home-church or families.

2. Pray that Pks would discover their purpose in life as well as their identity in Jesus.

Parents a lot of the time already have an idea of what they may want their child’s life to look like and in many cases that intensifies when that Parent is also a Pastor/leader. It’s easy as a child and even more so as a Pk to trust in the desires and plans your parents’ may have for you without consulting God. We want Pks to have the knowledge and strength to consult with God for their individual lives.

3. Love their Parents.

Yes, there are many Pks struggling to love their parents, sometimes it’s just one and sometimes it’s both. As we grow older and mature we realize our parents aren’t perfect and instead of judging and hating we are praying that Pks develop an overwhelming love and grace for their parents.

4. Love God’s church.

I figured if we grow an unexplainable love for God’s church and Kingdom we won’t be able to point out everything wrong in our local churches. Pks know a lot and have experienced a lot, a lot of Pks may even have knowledge on how to start and build a church and with such knowledge if we aren’t careful we become very critical and judgmental about other church plants. When we see a need let us pray and if we feel led consult and advise with love.

5. Pray for generations to come.

Whether we want to preach or not the truth of the matter is that we have a mandate to carry out our parents’ legacy. It is our responsibility to seek God on the “how”. It is our prayer that we would do this well and with Grace.
